Wilmer is a small hamlet just north of Invermere and the original townsite for the valley named Peterborough from the days that paddle-wheelers roamed the river system. Further north, Brisco, Spillimacheen and other outlying area are the valley's quiet, agricultural core. The areas are defined by small farms, ranches, and expansive open space.
